Their innovative project centred on developing a 100% plant-based, biodegradable pesticide derived from neem and local plant extracts. This solution aimed to address the significant challenge faced by West African farmers crop losses of up to 60% annually due to pests while mitigating the health and environmental hazards associated with synthetic pesticides. </span></span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px"><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:Aptos,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif">Under Professor Tulashie's mentorship, the team not only crafted a viable business concept but also aligned their solution with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on health, clean water, responsible production, and environmental protection. Their approach promised to enhance soil health, increase crop yields, and open access to premium markets for smallholder farmers.
